Young pine stands growth on abandoned farmlands

چکیده
Afforestation of abandoned agricultural lands contributes significantly to carbon sequestration. The aim the research is study growth dynamics pine forests on farmlands. average biometric parameters model trees indicate that young stands in area are approaching 20th age. Significant relationships were revealed between morphological parameters, which shows sustainability dynamics. Carbon sequestration rate high low-density growing farmlands where diameter increment high. height studied 1.0-1.5 m lower than natural high-density forests.

Optimal Stochastic Pine Stands Harvest Rotation Policies
A new Faustmann optimal rotation harvesting stands’ problem under Brown geometric price and Logistic and Gompertz wood stock, diffusions is presented. The optimal cut policies for the stochastic Faustmann model and the single harvest rotation or Vicksell model are evaluated in the case of a Chilean Radiata pine forest company. The company cut policy validates the Vicksell model, its optimal cut...
متن کاملVisual Preference Models of Southern Pine Stands
Statistical models explaining students' ratings of photographs of withinstand forest scenes were constructed for 99 forest inventory plots in east Texas pine and oak-pine forest types. Models with parameters that are sensitive to visual preference yet compatible with forest management and timber inventories are presented. The models suggest that the density of sawtimber-sized trees and the prop...
متن کاملCarbon Storage in Young Growth Coast Redwood Stands
Carbon sequestration is an emerging forest management objective within California and around the world. With the passage of the California’s Global Warming Solutions Act (AB32) our need to understand the dynamics of carbon sequestration and to accurately measure carbon storage is essential to insure successful implementation of carbon credit projects throughout the State. As the leader in fores...
متن کاملCarbon accumulation in Colorado ponderosa pine stands
Woody encroachment and thickening have occurred throughout the western United States and have been proposed as important processes in the US carbon (C) budget despite large uncertainty in the magnitude of these effects. In this study we investigated ponderosa pine encroachment near Boulder, Colorado. We reconstructed a time series of forest structure to estimate changes in C storage by the tree...
متن کاملDendroecology in young stands: case studies from jack pine in northern lower Michigan
Eight jack pine (Pinus banksiana) stands in northern lower Michigan were sampled to evaluate the potential of dendroecological methods for studying stand dynamics with young trees. At each stand, a minimum of 20 dominant and codominant trees were cored, and at two stands additional recruitment data were collected. The cores were all cross-dated and measured. The raw ring widths were used to ide...
